Важным направлением сотрудничества с МАГАТЭ является продвижение вопроса о размещении на территории Казахстана Международного банка ядерного топлива (МБЯТ) под эгидой Агентства в рамках проекта Фонда Инициативы по сокращению ядерной угрозы (NTI).
