В статье рассматривается созданная М. Горьким совместно с А.Н. Тихоновым и И.П. Ладыжниковым в 1915 году издательства «Парус», выпускаемые этим издательством книги, а также журнал «Летопись» и газета «Новая жизнь». Со страниц этих изданий М. Горький и его единомышленники призывали к скорейшему выходу России из убийственной для нее войны, которая, в итоге привела к революционным потрясениям и гражданской войне.
