В результате исследований будут получены данные о современном состоянии водоемов субантарктических островов по оценке гидробиологических и гидрохимических характеристик озер.
Изучение керновых колонок донных осадков палеобиологическими, современными молекулярно-микробиологическими, изотопными, литологическими, магнито-минералогическими, геохимическими методами. Планируется проведение радиоуглеродного датирования нескольких образцов донных отложений; исследования магнитных сепаратов методами микроскопии и рентгенографического фазового анализа. Проведение сейсмоакустических исследований позволит определить структуру донных отложений, провести реконструкцию истории процессов осадконакопления, наметить места отбора керновых колонок.
Все это позволит провести комплексный анализ всех изучаемых объектов и смоделировать изменения климата региона в голоцене.
