The time period of developing tuberculosis after infection and development of a positive tuberculin skin test reaction is an important measure for interpreting trends in tuberculosis.Objective: To retrospectively research the time period of developing tuberculosis after infection and development of a positive tuberculin skin test reaction at children with pulmonary tuberculosis.Design/Methods: The analyzed group included 115 children: 13 children in the age of 0-6 years, 66 children in the age of 6-12 years, 36 children in the age of 12-18 years.Analysis of history of disease, the tuberculin skin test, clinical, bacteriological, X-ray methods and statistical analysis have been applied.Results: Three groups did not differ by quantity of boys and girls: in the first group - 5 boys and 8 girls, in the second group - 33 boys and 33 girls, in the third group - 18 boys and 18 girls.The time period of developing tuberculosis after infection is studied. In the first group average duration of the time period has made 7,7 ± 4,6 years, in the second group - 5,5 ± 2,3 years, in the third - 2,0 ± 0,9 years, distinction between groups authentically (F = 34,007; p = 0,000). The time period of developing tuberculosis after infection was the shortest in older children. In our opinion this was due to the expansion of the social circle of friends in older children.Conclusions: The obtained results may be used for prevention of tuberculosis in children of different age groups.
