Ukraine is my Motherland and I`m very proud to live here. So I`d like to tell you about my country.
Ukraine is one of the largest countries of Eastern Europe. The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv. It is an independent state and it has its own government. It has state borders with Russia, Belarus and Moldova. It also borders on Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. In the south it is washed by the Black and the Azov seas. The population of Ukraine is about 47 million people.

People who live in Ukraine are Ukrainians. They all speak Ukrainian, the official language of the country. The national currency in Ukraine is hryvnia. In general, the climate of Ukraine is moderately continental, being subtropical only on the southern coast of the Crimea. The biggest cities are: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and some others. There are a lot of places to see in Ukraine and to be proud of. There are the Carpathians with their legends, castles, cathedrals and unique traditions. There`s Kyiv - one of the oldest cities in Europe, with it`s historical monuments, museums, theatres, exhibition halls, art galleries and its rich cultural life. The Ukrainians are gregarious people who will often gather in cafes or street markets to socialize. A common practice is for friends to visit each other at home to spend time chatting over tea.Ukrainians also have their own national clothes which are different in many parts of Ukraine and very beautiful indeed.
