В 1952 году в районе озера Хасхал найдены тазовые кости человека, пробитые железным наконечником стрелы, разбитые человеческие черепа и конская сбруя. Здесь же обнаружена стоянка первобытных людей (обломки обожжённых глиняных горшков, останки), а в районе устья реки Аргада обнаружены орудия новокаменного века. Останки неолита имеют давность 4-5 тыс. лет.
Говорят, что здесь видят всадников, возникающих ниоткуда и исчезающих в никуда. Эта местность именуется Хасхал, по названию озера, расположенного здесь. Именно здесь произошла жестокая битва между местным населением – бурятами, эвенками и казаками.
