John Galsworthy was born in 1867 and died in 1933. He was one of the major English bourgeois realist writers start xx century. The son of a wealthy landowner, he was educated at Harrow and Oxford,but instead of practicing law, has devoted himself to literature.
In 1932 he was awarded the Nobel Prize. The most important of his works is "The Forsyte Saga" trilogy,consisting of the novels "owner", "In the Grip" and "Vacation rentals".
